New pools
New pools, designed with the house
Contemporary, Mediterranean and infinity pools for villas and private homes on the Costa Blanca — considered with the architecture, the garden and the way you live outside.

A new pool is one of the few additions that changes both how a house looks and how it is lived in. The best ones feel inevitable — as if the house had always been designed around them.
We start with the brief: where the pool sits, how it meets the terrace, what it should feel like at noon in August and at dusk in October. Then we design it, prepare the budget and build it — coordinating excavation, structure, installations, finishes and the terrace through to the day you swim.
Types
Kinds of pool
- 01
Contemporary pools
Clean rectangles, flush edges, minimal coping and large shallow areas, often aligned with glazed façades.
- 02
Mediterranean pools
Natural stone, softer water colours, whitewashed walls and planting that settles the pool into the garden.
- 03
Infinity & overflow pools
Vanishing or perimeter overflow edges where the water surface meets the view. Infinity pools.
- 04
Villa & lap pools
Long, narrow pools for swimming, frequently set along a terrace or boundary.
- 05
Compact & plunge pools
Smaller pools for courtyards, roof terraces and townhouses, where heating and finish matter even more.

Materials
Finishes, coping and the colour of water
The interior finish determines the colour of the water and much of the character of the pool. Glass mosaic (gresite), porcelain, natural stone, micro-cement and reinforced membranes each behave differently under strong sun and hard water.
Sand and pale-grey finishes give the soft, luminous water typical of Mediterranean villas; darker finishes read as reflective and architectural. Coping — travertine, limestone, porcelain — should be non-slip, cool underfoot and continuous with the terrace.
Design
What to consider from the start
Integration
Position relative to the house, sun path, wind, privacy and the view. Levels and lines that continue the architecture.
Size & depth
Swimming, relaxing, children, entertaining. Shallow ledges and wide steps are often used more than depth.
Lighting
Underwater LED, terrace and garden lighting planned together so the pool reads well at night.
Heating
A heat pump and a cover can extend the season from summer to most of the year. Heating options.
Automation
Filtration, temperature, water quality and lighting controlled and monitored remotely — useful when you are away.
Terrace & exterior
Paving, shade, showers, outdoor kitchen and planting. Outdoor living.
Budget
What determines the budget
Every project is quoted individually after a site visit. These are the factors that move a budget most.
Size and depth
Water volume, surface area and the amount of excavation and structure.
Terrain and access
Rock, slopes, retaining walls and how machinery reaches the plot.
Structure
Gunite or poured concrete, overflow or infinity edges, elevated sections.
Finishes
Mosaic, porcelain, natural stone or micro-cement; coping and steps.
Equipment
Filtration, saltwater, heating, covers, lighting and automation.
Surroundings
Terrace area and materials, shade, landscaping and irrigation.
Design & licences
Architect or technical project where required, and municipal licence fees.

Questions
How long does it take to build a pool on the Costa Blanca?
Construction itself often takes two to four months for a villa pool, but licences, design and scheduling can add several months. Starting in autumn or winter is usually wise if you want to swim in summer.
Do I need a licence?
New pools generally require a municipal licence. Requirements vary between towns and plots; we confirm what applies to yours and coordinate the application.
Who manages the works?
We do. Solmarea coordinates and supervises every trade involved — excavation, structure, installations, finishes and terrace — and keeps you informed until handover.
Can the pool be heated?
Yes. An inverter heat pump combined with a cover is the most common way to extend the season on the Costa Blanca.
Planning a new pool or a renovation?
Tell us what you have in mind and we take care of the rest. It takes about three minutes.
